One concept that stood out to me most in this course was the importance of evidence-based practice and how nursing science is the foundation for everything we do. As the owner of a medical spa and a nurse injector, I see how easy it is for providers to follow trends, but this course reinforced the importance of understanding the “why” behind what we do and making decisions based on science and safety. It also made me reflect on cultural humility. In aesthetics, every patient has different goals, backgrounds, and views on aging and beauty, and it is important to respect that and provide care that aligns with their individual values.
As I continue working toward becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, I know I will use what I learned in this course every day. Healthcare is constantly changing, and I want to make sure I continue to grow, learn, and provide the best care possible. The discussion posts and assignments helped me reflect on my own experiences and recognize that learning never stops. They also helped me become more aware of my own perspectives and the importance of staying open-minded, which supports lifelong personal and professional growth and cultural humility.
This course also helped me achieve AACN competency 1.1e by strengthening my ability to translate nursing science into practice. In my role, I use my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to safely perform treatments and manage complications if they occur. This course reinforced that nursing science is what makes our practice safe and effective. As a future FNP, I will continue to use evidence-based knowledge to guide my decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Overall, this course helped me grow both professionally and personally and reinforced the responsibility we have as nurses to continue learning and providing safe, individualized care.

This course provided an excellent learning experience. One concept that really stood out to me is implicit bias and its impact on advanced nursing practice. I envision myself using this concept often as I become aware of implicit bias in healthcare and reflect on how to better myself as an APRN. This, along with slowing down my decision making, will positively impact my nursing practice.
The course activites and discussions with peers will help me grow personally and professionally in many ways. Reflecting on experiences in my own nursing practice and hearing others†experiences will provide me perspective as I lean into my new role as an APRN. It has helped me become more aware of cultural diversity, and I envision myself actively valuing patients†cultural identities as they apply to their heath beliefs and preferences.
This course will help me integrate the AACN Essential competencies by demonstrating nursing science into practice. Using evidence- based research in my advanced nursing practice is essential. Specific to this course, understanding implicit bias, cultural humility, and incivility in healthcare will help provide a better perspective as an APRN. My clinical decision making must go beyond simply performing skills, but rather understand the multitude of dynamics that influence patient care to provide safe and individualized care.
