  3. Review the YouTube videos about graphs and charts as needed according to your level of experience with using Microsoft Excel®.
  4. Complete the assigned textbook reading and review the textbook PPTs. Some PPTs have links inserted to provide more information or explanations from other sources for you to use as needed. Some PPTs are used in several workshops and not all of the chapter PPT content may apply for each workshop. Therefore, be sure and follow any hyperlinks to the additional material, but only as pertinent to the workshop content.

Rates are per 100,000 and age-adjusted to the 2000 US Std Population (19 age groups – Census P25-1130) standard.

  • Construct an arithmetic-scale line graph of the rates for each race-sex combination by time.
  • Construct a logarithmic-scale line graph of the rates for each race-sex combination by time.
  • Construct a simple bar chart showing the rates for the different race-sex combinations for the combined years 1985-2008.
  • Construct a bar chart grouped by sex showing the rates for the different racial groups for the combined years 1985-2008.
  • Construct a stacked bar chart showing the rates for males and females by racial group for the combined years 1985-2008.
  • Construct a pie chart showing the rates according to racial group for males for the combined years 1985-2008.
