Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to allow the learner to use effective strategies to search CINAHL, locate a scholarly professional nursing article, use APA format to create a reference and citation for a quotation, as well as summarize the article and apply it to future practice. Course Outcomes
This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes.

1. Read this document (Library Search Guidelines) including the Rubric.
2. From Doc Sharing, download the Library Search Template. Rename the document as Your Last Name Library Search.docx. Save it to your own computer or flash drive in a location where you will be able to retrieve it later. Type your assignment directly on the saved document. Remember that only Microsoft Word 2010 or a later version is acceptable. The document must be saved as a .docx. Save your work frequently as you type to prevent loss of your work.
3. Select one of the following topics prior to searching for an article.
a. Nursing theory (when searching CINAHL, type these words together in the first box)
b. Collaboration AND nursing (when searching CINAHL, type collaboration in the first box, select the connector AND, and then type nursing in the second box)
c. Leadership AND nursing (when searching CINAHL, type leadership in the first box, select the connector AND, and then type nursing in the second box)
d. Mentoring AND nursing (when searching CINAHL, type mentoring in the first box, select the connector AND, and then type nursing in the second box)
4. Using CINAHL accessed from the Chamberlain Online Library, perform an advanced search on the topic you selected from the list above. Locate a scholarly article published in a professional nursing journal (not a medical journal). For the purposes of this assignment, an acceptable scholarly article meets the following criteria.
a. Is peer-reviewed (meaning that the articles were blindly reviewed by a panel of nurse experts prior to publication)
b. First author is a nurse with advanced degrees listed on the article
c. Article has at least 3 pages
d. Has a reference list at the end of the article with citations used throughout the body of the article
e. Does not use second person (the word: you)
f. Is not a brief item, editorial, news item, or review
g. Was published within the last 5 years
h. NOTE: The article selected must be available in full text in the Chamberlain Online Library via CINAHL.
i. HINT: Set the Advanced Search limitations to match as many of the criteria above as possible. Be sure to include the limitations that you set in your Path to Locate Article.
5. Complete the Library Search by completing the activities required on the Library Search Template. Work on this assignment during Weeks 4 and 5. Don’t wait until the due date to begin your work!
