The best way to understand statistical data analysis is to conduct your own statistical study. You will work on a series of weekly course projects which begin in Week 1 and end in Week 5. You will construct a final course project that is due in Week 5; a Microsoft Word document that summarizes all of your weekly course projects.

  • Phase 1 – Select one of the provided scenarios and submit the data analysis and descriptive statistics for the dataset.
  • Phase 2 – Use your chosen scenario to construct confidence intervals for the mean and variance using the data set.
  • Phase 3 – Use your chosen scenario to test the hypothesis about the mean, interpret results from the hypothesis test and state conclusions.
  • Phase 4 – Submit your first rough draft of project
  • Phase 5 – Make any necessary changes to the rough draft and submit the final draft

Due Date

Your final project is due in Module 05. There will be individual assignments along the way. The module they are due is noted in the time line below.

Requirements

You will be required to choose one of the two scenarios and data sets provided below. Option 1 is a general business scenario which may appeal to Business, Accounting, Technology, and Design students. Option 2 is a healthcare scenario, but may appeal to students working in a variety of care and service industries such as Health Sciences, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, and Justice Studies.

Using your chosen scenario and data set, you will be required to submit weekly deliverables as mentioned in the timeline above.

  • During Week 1, you will select one of the provided scenarios and submit the data analysis and descriptive statistics for the dataset.
  • During Week 2, you will use your chosen scenario to construct confidence intervals for the mean and variance using the data set.
  • During Week 3, you will use your chosen scenario to test the hypothesis about the mean, interpret results from the hypothesis test and state conclusions.
  • During Week 4, submit your first rough draft of project.

For each of the weekly deliverables, you will submit your assignments via Microsoft Word to the drop box by the due date. The assignments must be properly formatted properly using the Microsoft Equation Editor.
