Wrap-Up Discussion

Over the past five weeks, you have researched and studied biostatistical methods and analysis of public health issues.

Constructively criticizing and defending your findings is also an integral part of public health. It is also one of the ways in which the field advances. In this wrap-up discussion assignment, you will get an opportunity to constructively criticize your classmates as well as defend your own findings.

Go to Doc Sharing and select a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation submitted by one of your classmates in Week 5. Read and evaluate the presentation. The following are some aspects on which you might comment in your evaluation:

• Their analyses of the data available on their topics
• Their analyses of the study designs
• Their analyses of the statistical findings
• Their suggested changes to the analyzed studies
• Your own suggestions for changes in the students’ analyses or the authors’ study designs and findings
• Any other constructive suggestions you may have

On the basis of your analysis of your classmates’ findings, reflect on the following:

• Consolidate what you have learned in this course.
• Constructively point out the errors in your classmates’ findings.
• Constructively criticize your classmates’ work.
• Defend your findings on the basis of your knowledge of biostatistical analysis.
